What Veterans Who Are Homeless or At Risk of Homelessness Should do for Help

Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are strongly encouraged to contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance. If Veterans do not have access to a phone or the internet, only then are they to visit their closest VA medical center without calling in advance. VA also urges Veterans who are not homeless or at risk of homelessness to contact their VA medical center before visiting for any reason

Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY,
Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit legal aid organization that provides free legal information, assistance, and representation in civil legal matters to low-income people in Central New York. Our services are provided by staff and volunteer attorneys with the help of paralegals and law students.

Our services include counseling for needs such as depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma (MST). We can also connect you with more support in VA and your community.


Through granted fitness programs nationwide, Catch A Lift is mentally and physically healing veterans one by one.

GUITARS FOR VETS

Veterans shouldn’t have to face the challenges of PTSD in silence or alone. Through the teamwork and camaraderie of Guitars for Vets, they can join a community where they learn to play guitar and find solace in the songs they love as well as the songs they have yet to write


The Wing River House was given by John Wing to Operation Grateful Nation (OGN), the 501 c3 he established to help veterans almost a decade ago. It is a place where veterans can go with their family and friends, to enjoy peaceful, relaxing time on the river.

Located o Today, the house is available for all members of the armed forces to enjoy.

Heroes to Hives

Heroes to Hives is a unique program offered through Michigan State University Extension that seeks to address financial and personal wellness of veterans through professional training and community development centered around beekeeping.


As part of the “RETURN THE FAVOR” Discount Program (Find & Assist Vets of Record), eligible county residents will be issued an I.D. card by the County Clerk’s office and are also available for issue at all Onondaga County Town Clerk's Officess Offices in Onondaga County as well identifying them as a qualified, honorably discharged Veteran of any of the U.S. Armed Forces. Any honorably discharged military Veteran residing in Onondaga County can get their FAVOR card by bringing their discharge or DD- 214 to the County Clerks Office located in the County Court House, 401 Montgomery Street Syracuse, NY 13202 or to their local Town Clerk's Office.
